In the bustling city-state of Singapore, cultivating strong English writing skills in children is not just an educational endeavor but a pathway to unlocking their future potential. English class Singapore for kids focuses on two major types of writing – composition and creative writing – each playing a pivotal role in honing a child’s linguistic abilities and imaginative flair.
Composition
Composition classes emphasize structured writing, aiding kids in mastering the art of crafting clear, organized, and compelling pieces. These essential skills not only contribute to academic success but also foster effective communication. Through formal structure, grammar, and logical progression, children develop the foundations needed to excel in various academic disciplines.
Creative Writing
On the flip side, creative writing classes ignite the imagination, allowing children to explore the boundless realms of storytelling. Through vivid characters, exciting plots, and imaginative settings, young minds learn to captivate readers with their unique narratives. Creative writing encourages free expression, imaginative flair, and storytelling prowess, contributing to a child’s holistic development.

Writers Studio
Writers Studio School of English is an elite education group in Singapore, dedicated to teaching students creative writing, PSLE, and O-Level English. They specialise in helping students from 5 to 16-year-olds build a strong foundation in writing. Their integrated creative writing programmes are highly specialised, tailored intricately for each age group. Dedicated writing programs and lessons with integration of essential language components are available all year round. Of notable mention is their most unique offer – the STARBRIGHT Creative Writing program, which has a remarkable range of enrolled students from 5 to 12 years of age.
Students seamlessly pick up writing skills from as young as Kindergarten 1 and progress through 4 intricate phases of creative writing training to attain mastery. Proficiency tests are given by Writers Studio to enable students to take on a level where they are best placed. This allows students to see creative writing classes as an avenue to hone their existing writing skills rather than participate in classes which are either too easy or too challenging for them.
On top of onsite classes, Writers Studio has an effective in-depth online creative writing course that has students not only from Singapore but from Asian countries attending. STARLITE Online Creative Writing Programme offers seamless online lessons that nurture young learners in creative writing, vocabulary building and reading.
Writers Studio was founded in 2012 by an MOE Head of Department who was also trained in the teaching of both gifted students and special needs students. The founder’s exposure to managing English education in local Singapore schools, coupled with educational projects in Asia and a Masters Degree in Creative Writing from the UK, have earned the school a strong reputation among parents who have become long-term clients and referred to their families and friends through word-of-mouth.
In addition to enrichment lessons, Writers Studio designs curriculum and English materials, collaborating with renowned writers, comedians, and drama schools to create a more engaging and pragmatic learning experience for students from Primary to Secondary levels. Writers Studio holds Creative Writing, Poetry competitions, and English festivals by working with writers to promote the love of English writing. Writers Studio also supports a charity group annually, with the most recent groups being Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped (SAVH).
